The confusion arises due to his association with a band member. The guitarist on ALL Clique recordings was John Rowe.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Brakeman109)Sun, 08 Dec 2013 19:39:21 +0000 Re: Jesse Hector in the Hackneyhttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p236559,from=rss#post236559https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p236559,from=rss#post236559Just to put the record straight, Jesse was never a member of the Clique and certainly did not play on any of their recordings. The misunderstanding may have originated as a result of his early association as a member of the Cravats whose bass player joined the Clique.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Engineer109)Sat, 07 Sep 2013 11:58:32 +0000 Re: Jesse Hector in the Hackneyhttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177277,from=rss#post177277https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177277,from=rss#post177277That Jesse Hector and the Sound single is probably the best thing he's done! nondisclosed_email@example.com (MarkG69)Mon, 15 Jan 2007 12:51:39 +0000 Re: Jesse Hector in the Hackneyhttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177266,from=rss#post177266https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177266,from=rss#post177266quote:Dave E wrote: quote:Wellersmate wrote: quote:Dave E wrote: Jesse played in the 60's Clique, appearing on their classic single, We Didn't Kiss, Didn't Love But Now We Do Do (which he would perform on a couple of occasions with the other Clique from the late 80's/early 90's. I regulary bump into Jesse around the record shops around Soho or in Camden in his favourite pub. Interesting guy with some great tales to tell and still a Small Faces devotee. That 'other' Clique had Paul Newman in it didn't it? My mate went out with him in the late 80s.... it was her sister and her fella who I was referring to who knew this Jesse! Paul formed the Clique with Phil Otto and Gilles Baillarguet (who would later join Jesse Hector & The Sound along with Kevin White) from the ashes of The Jukes. John Paul Harper joined on Guitar before Paul deprted and the Clique recruited Chris Jordan on vocals. Then along came Matt Braim on drums, Dom Strickland on Hammond and Trevor French on vocals who inturn was replaced by the Peters and Lee of Mod, Speed and Alex Petty while Bruce Brand took over guitar when John Paul went on to form Knave with Trevor. Great band that kept the Mod flag flying during the late 80's/ early 90's. I'll get my anorak now.....   Confused? ...you will be!   Used to know Chris when he was singing with a band called 'Vibraphone' from Hastings ...nondisclosed_email@example.com (mickee)Mon, 15 Jan 2007 08:47:24 +0000 Re: Jesse Hector in the Hackneyhttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177259,from=rss#post177259https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177259,from=rss#post177259Hahaa Good old Trevor French!! - I thought he'd turn up somewhere nondisclosed_email@example.com (Wellersmate)Sun, 14 Jan 2007 23:49:52 +0000 Re: Jesse Hector in the Hackneyhttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177256,from=rss#post177256https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177256,from=rss#post177256quote:Wellersmate wrote: quote:Dave E wrote: Jesse played in the 60's Clique, appearing on their classic single, We Didn't Kiss, Didn't Love But Now We Do Do (which he would perform on a couple of occasions with the other Clique from the late 80's/early 90's. These were what I call my '60s' friends and are the reason I got very into the 60s scene in the very late 80s early 90s. As for the documentary, it says it aired at Westbourne Studios in November last year and is being aired at music festivals the world over....  nondisclosed_email@example.com (Oxo)Fri, 12 Jan 2007 13:21:33 +0000 Re: Jesse Hector in the Hackneyhttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177010,from=rss#post177010https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177010,from=rss#post177010Mad one. A substantial amount?? It's a shame if he doesn't have a go out of greed. I always thought he was still occasionally gigging, but to more of a rockin' audience. And Crushed Butler is an odd choice, The Clique was his first band and The Gorillas were more famous weren't they? Or infamous... Tom, has the documentary already been aired or is due ter be shown? And is it just going ter be shown down there?? It'd be good ter watch I reckon.nondisclosed_email@example.com (MarkG69)Fri, 12 Jan 2007 12:52:38 +0000 Jesse Hector in the Hackneyhttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177008,from=rss#post177008https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p177008,from=rss#post177008Just picked up my copy of the Gazette in work and theres an article on a shaven headed Jesse Hector (age 60) in there...hes a cleaner at the Hackney Empire... apparently hes considering making a comeback (but only for something substantial)after a surge of interest in his music on the internet.... following on from a documentary on him late last year ( Jesse Hector - A Message to the World)...on about his first band Crushed Bulter from the late 60s, who didnt sell out like the Who - and made pop records Tomnondisclosed_email@example.com (Oxo)Fri, 12 Jan 2007 12:10:58 +0000
