As a skinhead in late 77 in the Pitfield Youth Club,Pitfield Street, Hoxton...with a number 2 and razor parting, in black levi sta-prest,ben sherman and black harrington
As a suedehead in early 78, in the photo booth in Old Street Station

Kev....just going through a load of old pics and found a few from 77 and 78... the top one is my favourite tobe honest...the only thing is me and Callum look so alike.. poor little (!) sod

Thanks....a bit more grey hair now though...and a few more pounds! I was 16 in the first one...Callum has just turned 17 and is 6ft 5 and a suedehead..and now got a guitarist for his band...thats my boy!!!

When the first one was taken, there were about 10 of us as skins in Hoxton and it seemed like less than a 100 or so of us in London...knew the Becontree from Essex - bumped into them down Petticoat Lane one sunday when we were rowing with the Teds, the Archway Skins from the Hope and Anchor and a few from West and North West London such Terry Madden etc...we were into the clothes in a big way and everyone hunted down the gear in every army surplus and little tailors we could find.. got the sta-prest for a couple of quid at the Angel (I got loads out of there including ice blue levis and tonic sta-prest, they thought they were having me over at £2 a pair!!)..the ben I got from an old tailors in Well Street E8 for 50p each...bought a tenners worth all in the 'wooden' boxes including window pane checks and the old stripe bens... the Pitfield was up the road from the Lion Club (who we played football for and a couple of us boxed for..) but it had a regular disco and we'd taken it over firstly with punk but then with tamla, stax, reggae and ska (and bottles of martini and cider in the toilets!)
