The Look or the Label

ok I concede that casuals are maybe an offshoot of the mod scene (still don't like 'em tho) but what's your opinion on this then? Is it the look thats more important or the label. IMO it's the look. why? well I'm not going to shoot off all my ammo until I have had some return fire and can gauge direction and range.

I'd say the look is more important than the label!

George at Asda have cashmere Turtle necks at the mo and are just as cool as designer ones. If not...dare i say...better?!!

Definitely the look with some of the bargains you can get around at the moment. You don't have to over spend to get a really decent look, but obviously it helps. emoticon

Its the look, however sometimes to acheive the look it needs to be a label. Class shines through, and that extra few quid makes a difference to how it hangs and lasts.

Min you'll be pleased to know I now have my cuban heels, so I should be about level with your armpits. Kids range indeed emoticon

By the way what is MWAH I see you post it occasionally, but now its in my general direction I simply must know... tell me now...tell me or, or I'll , I'll .... eerr please tell me, pleeeeaaaase. emoticon

Labels are bollocks. How can you pay 150 for a Burberry Harrington Jacket with that poxy tartan pattern around the collar.
I would rather spend 30 and buy a proper one.

Re: The Look or the Label

The early casuals would be more into the look than the label which is the only sensible thing to be IMO. I used to buy some of my gear at M&S in my hometown but they sadly closed down. Apart from some Merc/ JTG imitators we have no shops that cater for mods, like Duffer or H&G for instance, in Holland. So you have to find the little boutiques stock PS, Duffer, Boss and/or some Italian labels to find the classic cut clothes that fit the mod bill. I mix and match those labels with stuff from Zara and some M&S like stores etc. to create a contemporary mod look the way I see fit.
Oh, and I buy a lot of Lacoste gear as well as we do have one of their boutiques in my hometown. I get along well with the staff so they let me know about the sales beforehand.
Finally I try to avoid any possible cliche's and to look as subtle a mod doing so as in labels on the inside of garments or tiny if visible. I prefer to get recognised by other smart people ITK only.

Alex.

P.S. As for shoes The Hague's a great city to shop, lots of Italian footwear.

The look is far more important than the label. Although, I would only wear Levis if it's denim - yep I'm a hypocrite. Do I care? Non emoticon
