Re: Recommended 60's music....
Another forgotten band Ivy League...one of the first bands I discovered as a mod.Funny How Love Can be became my theme tune as my boyfriend said the lyric "there she goes with her nose in the air" reminded him of me!Cheeky sod.
Funny How Love Can Be
Anyways well worth digging out if you get the chance-I never get bored of them even now.(Unlike The Beatles!)

Re: Recommended 60's music....
morph not sure if im feeling a bit of sarcasm there,
i think the monkees done some great tracks the last train from clarksville being one and the porpoise song their best,
i think i probably only like the monkees because of my liking to the jetset who i think pretty much modeled themselves on the monkees which is great as everyone else wanting to be the beatles and i dont like the beatleshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgKCQJfAVgI

Nope, no sarcasm, he's a Monkees nut.... or is he a monkey's nut? See what I did there...

No sarcasm intended mods4life. Sorry if I gave that impression! I was having a laugh at myself there more than anything. Two Little Boys was the 1st 7" single I ever bought. I think 'Apeman' by The Kinks was my 2nd and 'Knock Knock Who's There' by Mary Hopkin the 3rd. There... that's those particular skeletons out of the cupboard now! I think their novelty value must have appealed to my childhood sensibilities!
I actually really like The Monkees. Manufactured they may have been but that didn't stop them producing some of the best pure pop music of the 60s, 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' being a particular favourite. I loved The Jetset as well. I can remember circa 1984 walking about my local estate with my tape player blasting out 'Judy's Toybox' from the Jetset EP at top volume! I thought everybody should get to hear it!

Re: Recommended 60's music....
sorry morph read into it wrongly i thought you were making out that the monkees were for kids what with rolf and yellow sub,
and ageed they may have been manufactured and yeah great 60s pop and tv shows too.
i always wanted judys toy box when i was younger a mate had it and put it on a tape for me not the same as having it on vinyl though. ive got there goes the nieghbourhood and a few years ago got jetset mania the ultimate collection only because it has judys toy box on it (which i went straight to)and its funny i also played it at full volume because i thought all the nieghbours should here as well, the next day next door came round with a copy of head on dvd and said i never knew you liked the monkees have you ever seen this, he thought i was actualy listening to the monkees
anyway he borrowed the jetset cd and was totaly blown away, (hes a bit of a rock freak)he couldnt believe such a band exists now he always borrowing some of my revival stuff he thinks its great
just goes to show mod music still remains unique and the best

Head - The Monkees is a fantastic soundtrack and not a bad movie either
