at last, i been waitting for some one to bring this up.
I have nothing against The Who as a band but ever time some talk about the M word everone think that everone who a Mod like The Who.
sorry but that just not the case for me i'd rather listern to some cool Jazz or R&B even listern to forgotten bands like the Birds
before you all jump on me it not a purist thing and i've never seen The Who as a Mod.
the Small faces were Mods who just so happen to form a band (but we all know that)but still never got the credit there should of had.
Re: up till which point was The Who mod ? Not sure I can answer but for me they were mods and 'Happy Jack' is really something special and typifies what I see in them. I love that song turned up loud. I still like a lot of their later stuff too but some tracks like Boris are just way too strange for my liking.
Re: up till which point was The Who mod ? I watched the Isle Of Wight concert on Sky Arts last night and that weren't Mod at all.
As previously mentioned My Generation was there only real Mod sound album. Thier fashion I think may have been a little manufactured as I think Keith was the only real Mod within the bunch.
Well that's how I see it anyway.
heres a few of my fave Who moments.
--- That music's lost it's taste, So try another flavour
Re: up till which point was The Who mod ? PETE TOWNSEND:"I was a Mod. No question about it. The other three guys in The Who were not. My best friend at art college Nick Bartlett and his older brother Tim were the sharpest Mods I came across, I hung out with them as much as I could. The thing is that anyone could be a Mod. You didn’t need to be working class."
"I once hung out with a group of Mods in Brighton with a girl, and we slept under the pier and chased rockers."
Re: up till which point was The Who mod ? Just found a dvd "The Who, The Mods and The Quadrophenia connection" this might give you a surprising answer to this question.
