I saw a clip of them doing Out In The Street on Youtube the other week and I can't find it now  mid 65 and they were looking really good i.e THIN!

Great question I must say-they certainly evolved and grew into a very different band but somehow reatin their mod heritage and I think thats largely driven by the fact although they were no longer mods by the time the Quad album was released it gave them some kudos in the mod world that they were there and remembered things so accurately I guess.
In any case The Small Faces also evolved and became heavier towards the end-but still are remembered as a mod band.
I just love The Who full stop-mod or not they can play and I love guitars!

i`d say right up untill the end of 68 musically ie `call me lightning` magic bus ` and `dogs`.Clothes wise i think i saw a tv apperance of them doing `pictures of lily` in 67 and townshend has got really short hair and braces on perhaps as a nod towards the emerging `hard mod`/proto-skinhead thing.

at last, i been waitting for some one to bring this up.
I have nothing against The Who as a band but ever time some talk about the M word everone think that everone who a Mod like The Who.
sorry but that just not the case for me i'd rather listern to some cool Jazz or R&B even listern to forgotten bands like the Birds
before you all jump on me it not a purist thing and i've never seen The Who as a Mod.
the Small faces were Mods who just so happen to form a band (but we all know that)but still never got the credit there should of had.
But here that just me
