wooooot
At work the other day, it's quiet and I'm cruising ebay for AA badges - I mention something in passing to my colleague Shirley (bless her) about the AA badges - next day she brings one to work for me - been in her shed for 30 years - an hour with solvol and a cloth and its a cracker.

Re: wooooot
A mate of mine's brother bought a GS last year for £75! from an old man who'd kept it in his shed since 1970! It was in eprfect nick and he had no idea what it was worth, so the guy skanked him. Have you noticed that people who would do things like that are the ones who get the lucky breaks in the first place? Then again, then again, then again...

Why? GS's are the most overated scooter Piaggio ever graced us with. Can someone please explain this age old fixation with a machine that looks overly bulbus and has a crap motor?
I much prefer the Sportique or the SS. Especially the 180, what a scoot!

Funny enough, the guy I'm talknig about is called Craig.
With regards to the love affair with the GS - for me it's the shape of the thing! Lovely bubbly...

Re: wooooot
I've got to admit, while I do like the GS range, for me the ultimate mod scoot has to be the ss180. The GS was on the market well before the popularity of mod had risen to recognisable levels. The ss180, however, is a different story - I like to believe it was designed with mods in mind. It was Piaggios attempt to curry favour with the crazy kids who riding scoots in 1965. It often had a 2 colour paint job and always had a motor that could handle the extra load of racks, bars, lights etc. It was the first of the modern Vespas - even the px range is basically ss180 running gear on a modern frame.

Re: wooooot
I think the GS fixation largely stems from Quadraphenia. As usual that film has a lot to answer for...
