Re: Remember The Untouchables?
Hey All;
Once a mod, always a mod...Had band rehearsal last night(bandname possibilities::Mighty Squid or maybe The Gravity Men) and told the boys that I loved mod music from the very start, not even sure of the musical distinction...Georgie Fame,Zombies,Ray Charles,Who,Moses Allison,The Animals,Jimmie Smith,Yardbirds...it was intuitive...
So glad to read threads from you folks with extended memories...MikeJohn mentioned seeing us at Boston Arms: I believe we filmed clips for the video "I Spy" after our gig there. If so, I probably have you captured on tape...Do you have a copy?
Westcott asks about reissued material: Wild Child has been released on CD twice, most recently with 2 previously unreleased songs that never made the original LP along with newer and better remixes...Hey MysteryMod: I'd love a copy of City Gent also, if it's possible...We appeared on several TV shows while on tour: Max Headroom, Tube, Top of the Pop,Mid-Summersnight's Tube...are any of these to be had? The "Free Yourself" video is what got us originally signed to Stiff...Dave Robinson saw it on French TV and flew to LA and signed us...It was shot very cheaply, but regardless, very stylish...it still stands up nicely...
Hey Ilford Mod-mon: Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen were fans of the U.T.'s...that's how we got into those particular films...I wrote and sang "What's Gone Wrong", which was featured in "No Man's Land"...I'd already left the band before they began shooting (Someday I'll explain why I quit on the boys)...anyway, the new keyboard player lip-synced my vocal for the movie...it was kind of weird to see...Other movies we did (if you can find them): "Party Animal" (great rendition of "The General"),"Under The Boardwalk" "Surf Nazis must Die" (whoa!)...anyway I'm thrilled to chat with you people about the days...

Re: Remember The Untouchables?
I think The Gravity Men sounds best. The Mighty Squid sounds a bit like a Woodstock hippy type thing...

Re: Remember The Untouchables?
Hi acetone, saw you guys play at Poole arts centre 1985, with some freaky goth band as support, think they left half way through there set, i remember Clyde " the city gent " Grimes climbing the speaker stack, still playing the guitar, getting to the top leaping jam stylee into the air, landing, spinning around and never missed a beat, also one of our club bieng propelled over the crash barrier to dance with the guys on stage to free yourself, brilliant gig, glad to hear you're still around, no chance of the original band getting back together for a reunion gig ????

stop bieng naughty, take our advice........?

Re: Remember The Untouchables?
My wife can't believe that people remember gigs the U.T.'s played all those years ago...I'm loving it..."selective memory", I explain..."we forget to take out the trash, right after being told to, yet we remember who paid for drinks 20 years ago"...One thing the U.T.'s had, was a great stage show...Fortunately, playing keyboards, I wasn't expected to perform death-defying stunts while playing my instrument...boringly, I just hopped up and down to the beat...not very memorable...you know, when you're on tour and getting a bit homesick, you start to wonder about things...I wish I could have understood the impact the U.T.'s created...I might have been more patient and understanding of the rigors of travel...Interesting concept, you propose, Modra...reuniting the U.T.'s...understand though, that the band has always had revolving membership...a reunification would include quite a few musicians and we all tend to moooch a lot...I was there for a very crucial era,from 1983-1985...going from self- released single ("The General" to major label release "Wild Child")...there is a website for the band with attached link to chatroom...you may want to suggest your idea there and see what happens...Also, thanks M-Mod for the link to DJ Delboy, I'll check him out...Anyone seen the TV/video shot in '85 at the Rockplast Festival in Germany...I think it can be had online...the complete set, well shot...B#...Acetone...

Re: Remember The Untouchables?
Cheers for that ace, do you know your right ear is also present on the front of wild child ??? that'll get you diving for yer record collections.
Also i think that it wouldn't matter to what degree you guys got back together it would be the fact that you did ??? food for thought, i for one would go see it.
Didn't some of them form the guitar gangsters ??? so at least some of you are still performing, and you already have a fan base as of such to work from, what would a few calls cost, come on you know you want to.

Modra, I thought my ear was something only me and dear old mommy was ever recognize...you win an award....actually for my 40th b-day, lovely wife framed the original full-size Wild Child poster, which now hangs over my left shoulder, above my musical equiptment. Modra, you'd be happy to see my ear on the poster, it's enormous...
I was just thinkin' about one show we played on one of our visits...Brighton...I loved Brighton...Stiff put us up in beautiful hotels. Here, we stayed right over the beach in a very grand place...I was looking for Ace to take my bags upon check-in...I always loved to stroll around all the places we'd visit on tour...always been very partial to antique/junk stores...I collect tea/cigarette cards (sports/music/scoots)...Brighton was chalked-full of them as I recall...One particular section of a slow, downhill,windy street...near a bingo palace...I think we may have played in a glass-domed building there, but I could be mistaken...anyway,I just loved it...that was the great part about touring...visiting all these unusual places...being there for a reason...Anyone rally to Brighton these days?...Wasn't there a train that ran along the highway to Brighton? That looked fun...
