I definatly know the name of the "crypt"- Cornhill Vaults, many a time I got a little Pi****. Back in the late 70's there will be 2 different groups of people down there, one group were into rock, prog rock..... the others were scooter lads and lasses with a heavy presence of Northern Soul fanatics. For me it all began at the "Anersley Hotel" (can't remember how it was spelt) it played a lot of Northern Soul and I was hooked, I went with one of my school friends, her brother and his mates and thats how I met my ex husband ( Richard Todd), despite everything he was a great paint sprayer and did some fabulous customised jobs on scooters. At one point in our back garden we had 5 Lambs and 2 in the shed- rather sad but he was never the same after the crash. I could tell some tales of when Quadrophenia came out-interesting times.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lincoln Lass)Sat, 12 Oct 2013 19:41:38 +0000 Re: Brighton May Day 1980 Hastings Coasters and Lincoln Survivors 66 SChttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p236561,from=rss#post236561https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p236561,from=rss#post236561I remember the Lincoln lot dragging us down some Crypt like pub and then to some club above a pub in the town centre but I cant remember what it was called. They really showed us what Northern Soul was all about...to which im forever grateful....We came home with shitloads of Northern singles and albums that they gave us ...thats how genreous they all were. Eric Hall is a legend down here and always will be ...great people all of them nondisclosed_email@example.com (WINDY61)Thu, 19 Sep 2013 14:27:23 +0000 Re: Brighton May Day 1980 Hastings Coasters and Lincoln Survivors 66 SChttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p236560,from=rss#post236560https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p236560,from=rss#post236560I couldn't agree with you more, they really were great guys and gals. This brings back memories. I knew Tommy Chetwood, my ex husband was his mate.I remember going to Tommys place and there was a scooter in the front room being repaired, an amazing thing to see in a terraced house! The "Survivors" certainly didn't begin in 66. Tommy Chetwood, Richard Todd, Bogey, Ced,Mick Stark? These were the ones who created the club-sorry if I left any-one out. Its quite sad looking back and sadder even to think that they're no longer involved. I know they were passionate about their scooters and the whole MOD thing.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lincoln Lass)Mon, 15 Jul 2013 19:18:31 +0000 Re: Brighton May Day 1980 Hastings Coasters and Lincoln Survivors 66 SChttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p235609,from=rss#post235609https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p235609,from=rss#post235609Bloody hell Steve ...I remember you well mate ..I remember the ride home from Brighton was a bit eventful as we had a run in with some soul boys in a Capri trying to run us off the road.. I remember quite a few names from the Survivors .Eric Hall, Geoff Fagg , Tommy Chetwood and his wife(was it Debbie ?),Pete and Jane Burns. I recall Geoff's Lambie gave up and he got the RAC to rescue him back to Lincoln. We all still talk about you guys regularly and you are all legends down here, It was very kind of you to say we looked after you well but its nothing compared to the hospitality that you guys gave us when we went to Scarborough and when we went to Lincoln for a great weekend in April 1980.Cheers. I guess the two just went hand in hand .The plus for me being that they introduced me to real Northern Soul.Up until then I thought Northern was just stuff like 'skiing in the snow' and 'Footsie' You live and learn !!!nondisclosed_email@example.com (WINDY61)Tue, 05 May 2009 19:40:39 +0000 Re: Brighton May Day 1980 Hastings Coasters and Lincoln Survivors 66 SChttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p224668,from=rss#post224668https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p224668,from=rss#post224668Interesting contrast between mods with, and mods without flares in 1980 eh? I thought I was going mad for a while as even some of the Hastings boys can't remember them . They were a right nice bunch. I kept in touch with them for about 3 years and then didnt hear anymore until I saw a picture of Tommy Chetwood in The Scooterists a few years ago. He had alot less hair and less flares too I posted on another thread that we bumped into them in Little Holland at the ferry terminal to get accross the Humber for Scarborough Easter 1980. They lent us tents to sleep in as we had nothing but giant bin liners. It was f f f f freezing and they served us well. We spent a weekend in Lincoln also and then they came down to us for Mayday 1980.
