Not mod, but surf...
Hey, I have some mp3s of a band called "Johnny Kill and the Explosions" I know nothing about them. I just put them on the computer from some old cassettes my dad had. They have songs from 1960-2000...I have no clue at all when they where around, or were, or any of that stuff...Does anyone want any of their tunes?
It's surf songs, all under 2 minutes, most 1:30 etc...crazy stuff...
If you want mp3s, e-mail me.
Maybe if you know anything about them??

Re: Not mod, but surf...
Gotta disagree minimod. I love surf music, and with Tarantino's sound tracks of late, some of the classic surf cuts have been getting the status they deserve. Particularly the king of rockabiliy surf Link Ray. Anyone who doesn't dig Rumble is seriouly damaged.
Same with the early cheestatic Beach Boys, great stuff. Though I don't know of the band mentioned, I know many music freaks who may know of the band. Perhaps asking about surf on a mod forum may not get results, but they both retro genres, so it's a case 'if you don't ask, you don't get to know'.
Don't want the curious surf dude thinking mods are small minded. Surf is a legititmate classic retro style which is really fun. Not mod agreed, but i'm very interested in the genre, and most folk know of The Jay Jays classic mod/surf cover of the Cruncher. I do know of several mod/garage bands who also dabble with surf instruments which does include The Waistcoats, The Woggles, one or two Solarflares intrumentals are very surf as well, so there is some crossover. The Ox by the Who is surf gone insane, a really rough sea.
Good music is simple as that and there is some great surf tracks which I'm sure some mods would love.
The Cowabunga surf box is great, ripper mate.

Re: Not mod, but surf...
I personally love the early 'Beach Boys/Jan & Dean' Stuff.
As for Tarantino's sound tracks, there's some classics all through 'Reservoir Dogs',Pulp fiction Dusk till Dawn & Jackie Brown'.
Could it be he's a SECRET U.S Mod????

Re: Not mod, but surf...
I've never been a huge Dick Dale fan even though he is the king of Surf music, however, I do like a lot of Surf rock bands like the Bomboras. A lot of it actually blurs and melts together with a lot of the US garage rock scene.

Got loadsa surf stuff, although I have to be in the right frame of mind to be listening. Some of the instrumental stuff is divine!
