The Birds vs The Bryds
I've been arguing with a mate for ages that The Birds are better than the Bryds but he's having none of it, the Byrds are ok (would never consider them a mod band) but imo The Birds were one of the best 60's Mod bands although short lived.
Whats everyone else's opinion?

Re: The Birds vs The Bryds
Are you talking about the Byrds or The Bryds?
You spell both! Two different bands. One is hippy shite the other are garage royalty.

Re: The Birds vs The Bryds
The Bryds who did 'Your Lies'?
The Byrds are beige music for me, but i have to admit I love Chestnut Mare...
To answer yer question... The Birds p1ss it every time!
not the bryds or the byrds

Now would that be The Birds or The Thunder-Birds just to complicate things a tad more

Re: The Birds vs The Bryds
I've never heard of a band called the Byrds before, honest typo. Just wanted to see how many people I could get to show support for the Birds and send the link to my mate, he always does stuff like that to me.

Re: The Birds vs The Bryds
The Bird's version of Leaving Here is brilliant but I reckon that Feel a Whole Lot Better matches it.
Sitting on the fence really...............

Re: The Birds vs The Bryds
For me its The Byrds i`m afraid,i used to have their first six lp`s on vinyl and learnt to play rythmn guitar by turning off one channel of my stero and playing along with dave crosby on feel a `whole lot better`,also they led me to investigate the whole west coast scene and country music into the bargin. Then theres the whole raga thing with `8 miles high`,`why`,`i see you` etc, they were always ahead of the game in the 60`s and did folk-rock,space-rock,country-rock,you name it,they also looked damn cool as well,
i like the Birds as well though,
Bob

Re: The Birds vs The Bryds
I've got the "Collectors Guide to British Birds" which has got pretty much all of The Birds recorded work on it.Its a great CD.However,The Birds werent that much different to hundreds of other R&B bands in the UK at the time and you'd have to rank half a dozen other R&B bands above them. The Byrds,on the other hand, had so many other dimensions to them and their songwriting was way ahead.
Looks wise,in the Mod stakes,I'd give it to the Birds.

For one moment there I thought you had gone all Bill Oddie on me!
