Mod dances?

I think I've seen a few references to Mod dances, or dances that the Mods had done, around the threads lately. What dances are there? Is there a book with these in it? Or how would you learn'em?

Just interested in asking. emoticon

It's not in any book but I am without doubt the finest exponent of 'The Drunken Scouse totally without rhythm shuffle'.

There is an old 60s book Dances for Mods and Rockers. It has all those little left foot right foot illustrations. If I can find my copy I'll post a few up.

There were also dances featured in 60s mags like Boyfriend , Rave and Mod Monthly though these tend to be wordy like "stick your left foot out, then your left, fall over, turn around".

Believe me they are useless for learning to dance to. Your best bet is to watch some of the dancers at mod clubs. Most seem to do versions of the Beam or the Flyer.

Me I mostly stand at the bar and say I don't like this record. That way I keep my dignity. I can't even dance like this little fella emoticon emoticon

I just find the dances interesting--like that Mod doing the Block. It's entertaining to watch. If you go to a local show (punk rock) they skank a lot...for some reason (whether to punk rock or ska--which it's all meant for ska really). I tend to pogo most of the time to music, or I'll ride the slam dances for a good rough time. emoticon

Anyone seen Jeff do his Funky Chicken? emoticon

For me, it's all about little back heel kicks and a bit of mutated northern soul! emoticon
