Personal taste sure is a funny ol' thing. Glad you're getting something out of it anyway.nondisclosed_email@example.com (bop)Tue, 27 Apr 2004 11:34:12 +0000 Re: 'Soul And Rock That Does Not Stop!'https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17678,from=rss#post17678https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17678,from=rss#post17678Just listened to it all the way through Bop. Some of it's a bit slow, but like most of it My favourites are: I can't believe what you say - Ike a Tina Turner. A little piece of leather - Donnie Elbert. Oh! Mom (teach me how to uncle willie) - The Daylighters. Daddy rollin' stone - Derek Martin. That's how heartaches are made - Baby Washington. I wanna be (your everything) - The Manhattans. But the absolute stand out track for me is; Keep An Eye On Love - Ernestine Anderson. Not only have I never heard it before, (which is a great feeling!), but the song has all the qualities I like in a soul record, all rolled into one! It's got that gutsy, R&B/Tamla crossover feeling, with a brilliant bluesy/gospel female soul voice, and all wrapped into a medium/fast tempo, girl group-type sound. In a word - brilliant! nondisclosed_email@example.com (mysterymod)Tue, 27 Apr 2004 10:19:28 +0000 Re: 'Soul And Rock That Does Not Stop!'https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17677,from=rss#post17677https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17677,from=rss#post17677Hope you enjoy it, Lee. (IMO) If you like soul and R&B, you can't go wrong.nondisclosed_email@example.com (bop)Sun, 25 Apr 2004 09:30:35 +0000 Re: 'Soul And Rock That Does Not Stop!'https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17674,from=rss#post17674https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17674,from=rss#post17674is that already out in UK? it doesnt get released here in USA til June 8th are most of the tracks upbeat on this disc?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Camden Lock)Sat, 24 Apr 2004 17:51:35 +0000 Re: 'Soul And Rock That Does Not Stop!'https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17673,from=rss#post17673https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17673,from=rss#post17673quote:bop wrote:  (Don't worry, Lee, there's no ska on it... ... ) Phew! nondisclosed_email@example.com (mysterymod)Sat, 24 Apr 2004 17:08:24 +0000 Re: 'Soul And Rock That Does Not Stop!'https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17672,from=rss#post17672https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17672,from=rss#post17672  (Don't worry, Lee, there's no ska on it... ... )nondisclosed_email@example.com (bop)Sat, 24 Apr 2004 06:58:56 +0000 Re: 'Soul And Rock That Does Not Stop!'https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17671,from=rss#post17671https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17671,from=rss#post17671Sound good to me Bop Payday on Monday, so I'll be buying that I think nondisclosed_email@example.com (mysterymod)Thu, 22 Apr 2004 20:59:05 +0000 'Soul And Rock That Does Not Stop!'https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17670,from=rss#post17670https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p17670,from=rss#post17670 'The UK Sue Label Story' on Ace is an absolutely essential new compilation that all you mods should own and enjoy. Apart from such well-known cuts as 'A Little Piece Of Leather' and 'Mockingbird' there are a lot of killers - like Wilbert Harrison's 'Let's Stick Together', Jimmy McGriff's 'All About My Girl', and my current favourite, 'Music City' by The Pleasures. Top quality R&B, Jazz and Soul from one of the hippest labels. Do yourself a favour... nondisclosed_email@example.com (bop)Thu, 22 Apr 2004 17:52:49 +0000
