Re: The ANIMALS

Just picked up "The Animals: The Singles +" double CD set at my neighborhood corporate superstore for $17.00. I knew them for House of the Rising Sun, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, and We Gotta Get Out of This Place, all great songs in my opinion. The rest of the CD is full of really amazing mod music though, and I agree that House of the Rising Sun is a very atypical Animals song. Some of the songs really remind me of the Doors though. Can someone explain this? Maybe it's just the wailing organ work ... emoticon

Re: The ANIMALS

I LOVE House of the Rising Sun. It's the 1st thing I learned on the guitar. I like hippy-sounding music though, as well as rnb and soul. I don't think it's too hippy sounding myself...

The record label almost wouldn't let them release it, as I recall, becuase they thought it was too long and boring...but it was a huge hit with all the folk loving students in America. They were surprised when the Animals toured there and belted out all these RnB numbers.

That cover of Boom boom is ace...but my favorite is 'Baby can I take you home'. Tres cool stuff emoticon

I have that Animals collection of which you speak (well one like it). I like everything on it. It's good to see another Kinks fan as well.
