The ANIMALS
the 1964-5 years produced by Mickie Most ANIMALS were awesome! my fave 60s band right after the Kinks. The "Complete Animals" 2cd set is killer with all the classic 64-5 tracks. By far they play my fave version of "boom boom", even better than the original imo. Ironically, the one song from this era i HATE is their biggest hit, House of the Rising Sun...otherwise this band was tops

Re: The ANIMALS
I don't know much by The Animals but what i've heard, i've liked. Especially House of the rising sun.
Jeff - Cool! I love Otis! What does he sing on it?

The house of the rising sun is what's kept me away from the Animals. i probably shouldn't let it, eh?

Definitely not Luna! Most of the other stuff they did was pure mod!

Re: The ANIMALS
yea, House of the Rising SUn is their WORST song imo....how it became such a hit i dunno but it sounds too hippy for me even tho it was recorded when the band was at its most "mod".
My fave animals tunes:
Boom Boom (cover)
Baby Let me Take You Home
Girl Cant Help (It cover)
Baby What's Wrong
It's My Life
We Gotta Get Outta this Place
all quality mod songs....and i do have a RSG video tape that has The Animals doing "baby let me take you home" which seriously rules
This band has more quality songs than many other beat bands if you stick around the 64-5 era

Re: The ANIMALS
Can't remember what song Eric sings in the Otis Redding RSG special, but he's got soul. He leaves Chris Farlowe standing.
As for Otis, I strongly recommend buying a DVD. What he was like live cannot be matched on record. The 'Otis remembered' DVD is great with a staggering performance from Sam and Dave too, all backed by Booker T and the MG's who are absolutely rockin'...
STRONGLY recommended.
My Otis RSG is on video and as I no longer have a VCR I can't watch it. Anyone know if this is out on DVD??
