Re: Modrevival.net
Because my Yahoo account is a paid, professional one, I get access to all the stats through them as part of the deal. It makes really interesting reading....

Re: Modrevival.net
Yes, wouldn't it be strange if boys and men started wearing trousers that needed dry cleaning and shirts that needed ironing for social events instead of just going to the office, or weddings and funerals? And they made the dramatic sartorial leap from having to wear those shirts out to actually tucking them into their trousers? And their influences came from the early 60s? And suddenly, it was a cool-looking world...Soho sprang to life with the cafes buzzing with conversations about literature, art, music and movies...and guys carried albums by The Peddlers under their arms and met in basement bars where modern jazz bands wailed and women shimmied and...hold on, I'm getting a bit caried away here.
It looks as if it's the girls that are being targeted (no pun intended) in the 60s revival thing. Does this mean that clubs playing 'urban' music are filled with girls in black and white dresses? Strange culture clash, eh? Of course it would be even stranger if one thing lead to another and they started listening to 60s music and realising that Aretha sounds better than Beyonce and that looking smart is better than looking like a tart.
As for chaps, the 'casual' revolution of the 90s seems to have done too much damage, as a walk around any clothes shop reveals. Do the people get what the people want, or do they only bother getting what they're given? Since it's all industry-driven, it's safe to assume that for as long as they can make cheap, nasty clothes and sell them, unless there's a retail boycott, people will keep buying. After all, men are notoriously lazy when it comes to clothes shopping. Girls, meanwhile, are enthusiastic, but dare I say, more fickle, perhaps? Which is why the shops are filled with all this (mostly) cliched '60s clothing'. That said, I still haven't seen loads of girls walking down the street looking '60s', so perhaps they won't buy it despite the industry's best efforts.
I am a lazy clothes shopper, and I want my cheap, easily available '60s clothes' now, please.
