Eddy Steady Go !

Eddy Steady Go.Self stled 'Mod Poet'.He was around in the mod revival scene 1979/1980 used to get up on stage between bands, usually to a,ahem,'mixed' welcome and do his set.The set consisted of his own self penned poems about mods etc delivered in the John Cooper Clarke style.
"Mods do this
Mods do that
Wear Mohair suits
and Pork Pie hats
You aint a Mod if you dont wear that
Anyone will tell you that "etc etc etc
cant remember the rest of it.
Anway ,does anyone know what happened to him?
He was in the Jerry 'Parka' Floyd stable of 'stars' including Long Tall Shorty and the Teenbeats.

Didn't he do Anarchy in SW1 or something similar? Don't think they were the same.

Johnny Rubbish I always thought of as p*sstake like the Water Pistols doing Gimmie that Punk Junk

No I'm sorry mate I can't. I think he was on at The Marquee one night and as soon as he came on we made like a pair of tight trousers and split!

Garry Johnson of Sounds and Sun fame?
I knew him in the eighties after Garry Bushell introduced us. My mum used to call him Speedy. Can't think why though lol.
I went to his wedding in the early 90's but I haven't seen him since. Bruce Foxton was there looking a bit thin/tired. I was too scared to talk to him even though I'd met him twice before.
Oxo might know what he's up to now.
Remember Johnny Opposition from Sounds? He might have been Attila but I'm not sure.

Garry was meant to have come down the pub on Wednesday as a few of us were meeting up to meet Lars of Rancid (in the March 11th Mod Festival thread in Gigs) ...apparently he turned up at 5.30pm when we were meeting at 8.30pm...he went home!

Attilla...not a bad bloke actually...isnt he now the official poet for Brighton and Hove Albion?

Seething Wells/Steven Wells of the NME...twat

Yes, Attila was John Opposition... a very nice bloke and a good friend mine in 1978-79. He went back to England, and I met him again at a mod gig at the 100 club when I lived in London in 1982 - he was then in his John Opposition phase- the most pro-mod journalist at the time. We met again the day after for a couple of drinks and had very interesting discussions. Haven't seen him since.

I think he did a review of my lot (007) at The 100 Club in 82. He turned up fissed as a part but he was well into the whole mod ethos. Fan of Trotsky if memory serves me correctly.
Good review I think as well.
