Re: SHAM ARMY and OTHER GANGS

we didnt even know what physcobillys were! were they the teddy boy ripoffs?
One thing ive noticed about this message board is that Mods are trying to portray themselves as victims of skin/punk/casual aggression in my experience Mods were every bit as violent as the other tribes if not more so.

exactly that "even stevens" as in they gave it out as well as took it.
in newcastle in the early 80s we had numerous battles with the mods and it was them that started it by coming to a bar we went to on a sat afternoon and for a about 3 weeks in a row around feb 82 we would go and have a bit fun with them, i mean they looked like a pile of faggots but they were game, really they were skins in nice clothes.

Skins in nice clothes??
emoticon Why d'yer say that? 'Cos they wore decent clothes and could deal out a kicking? And when yer say skins, d'yer mean boneheads??

Skins in newcastle were not very stylish!it was an easy look to achieve ie shave your head and put on a pair of boots,so yes our skins were more bonehead/gluey/chav(or as we say CHARVA)then true stylish skins

Re: SHAM ARMY and OTHER GANGS

its funny how everyone classes most of the 80s skinheads as boneheads...........would all 80s mods be considered plastic as they started out wearing parkas and jam shoes ??

there were alot of the boot brigage that were aware of their heritage ..........because you liked sham/4 skins/infa-riot/sparrer/last resort and wore bleaches everyone considered you a thick cnut. But I spose saying that there were some twats about aswel as there will be in all youth cultures !!

THe sham army in newcastle were without a doubt the thickest bunch of losers you could ever hope to meet!!
i still see some of them dotted around the city and on the whole they havnt done very well for themselves, but i suppose having a doc martin tattooed on your cheek and an eye on the back of your neck would limit your career path some what.
