Re: Giffer Soul
Tom Jones hasn't covered the snake as far as i'm aware!...but he has been called a 'Lounge' singer in the past and i know of one or two tracks of his that have been played in northern/club circles! ...so answer my original question please so that i can place his vinyl under the correct catagory!

Re: Giffer Soul
Ahh lipstick traces - yes this one makes me go gooey and have tears in my eyes - (only if I'm on my own though).
Oh no Drifter - Wendy and I always used to sing this on trains going up north to dos.
Some giffers are ok some giffers are plain awful!

Re: Giffer Soul
The Drifter is a top tune, aye it's a bit slow but so is 'what you gonna do about it' by Doris Troy and that is a CLASSIC tune. Incidentally when my mate Peter Stone, a well respected northern soul DJ, got married in Vegas last year Ray Pollard was his best man and sang 'The Drifter' at his wedding. Kitty said it right, nice and simple - some giffer is good some ain't, again it's a choice thing.

Re: Giffer Soul
JO ........ you mean you requested it and he didn't play it? If thats the case we wont have him back next year
Mickee ...... I misinterpreted you. Tom Jones, definitely not giffer if your're referring to stuff like Stop Breaking My Heart. Too upbeat.
Kitty ........ don't succumb to the giffer!!
Daddyrollingstone .... wedding, best place for it

Jo ...... its funny about the snake. Loads of people really hate it. I've often heard that itys overplayed but I've never heard ip played anywhere I've been.
Go to ANY scooter club do or anywhere Tony Class is dj'ing, and you'll learn the meaning of overplayed!!!
The Drifter is definitly giffer, and the aforementioned Doris Troy is too. Like Hipshaker, I struggle to name specific tracks of giffer, but I know it when I hear it!
