On the Cadge....
Wonder if anyone on here could help me out? Basically My SX200 has been F*cking about since it was rebuilt and kitted with a Rapido225 kit. (25mm dellorto through the airbox, 42mm clubman exhaust). It has a 12v electronic kit on it too. It was all done by Medway Scooters, and they orderd the kit in from AF Rayspeed.
Basically, it starts up fine, and runs really well for around 20 - 25 miles till it gets hot - then it starts to cut out. It will start up again after a 5 - 10 mins... but then it does it again.
Nearly everyone I've asked has said it's most likely an electrical fault, and I've replaced the coil, and the little black pick up on the stator plate.... and I thought it had cured the problem, but it did it again - tho "recovery" period is quicker!
Basically What I'm asking is if there is any nice person out there who has a 12v stator plate (GP Crank btw..)I could borrow to see if the fault is there, before I shell out anymore money on something I dont bloody need!
Obviously I'd cover postage costs etc... & return the stator plate once it has proved / disproved the problem!
I can't ask the local SC cos I fell out with them a while back... All bloody Scooter Scum - not a mod amongst 'em!
Cheers chaps....?!

Re: On the Cadge....
I don't know sod all about Lambrettas to be honest, but could it be the most basic, simple problem to resolve on earth?: Maybe try a really 'cold' spark plug? I only thought of it because most people that really know what they're on about, might miss it as it's not complex (if that makes sense?!)

Re: On the Cadge....
it sounds not so much like an electrical fault as it sounds like insufficent cooling of the stator plate. Electronic ignitions use a semiconductor pick-up and all semiconductors(by their very nature) have narrow tolerances of temperature. maybe mounting the pickup on some heat insulating material may help. it could be something as simple as the flywheel not being mounted properly thereby not providing the 'heatsink' qualities it should.
hope this helps.

Re: On the Cadge....
I've sorted all sorts of problems with scooters in the past ;but the best thing for you to do is take it back to the people who have obviously got something wrong!?

Re: On the Cadge....
I've had 3 Lambrettas in my time and they all had basic simple problems wrong with them that no one could ever find.... I had a PX a few years later and that bastard worked fine until a minor altercation with a Merc on Chelsea Bridge. !@#$ it, I'm saving for an Aston Martin... but currently own a new car under warranty that comfortably gets me everywhere I want to go. Clean.

Re: On the Cadge....
RE: Sparkplug.
What kind are you using?
Try a Champion N3.
On 'Tuned/Re-bored' engines this plug is the dog's bollocks.
I'm busy running in my new 'Stage 4' 200cc GP engine so I'm using a N4, but once I have put the miles on I have been advised by Stozzy (one of my mates) who used to work at AFRayspeed to change to a N3.
Hope this helps.

A simple basic problem being looked for.....
This was not cool. Thats me on the far left with the badly dyed ginger hair swearing my head off...

If you say it often enough you finally hear yourself...
