We have an expression in our crowd for Giffer Soul...we call it 'Bendy Northern'...
My vote goes for an RnB room Hipshaker!!

Re: HIPSHAKER @ IOW 2004
The pure RnB room sounds great, I'd love for somebody to throw in a bit more revival as well somewhere, but then Hipshaker you guys were bloody great and I'm a converted fan whatever. looking to come and find you guys soonest...
Canary bird...I know!!!!
Being a Irons fan enables me to understand losing, hope you're ready with my consolation when we yet again fail this season??

R&B room Hipshaker! That would keep me goin all night Maybe with a bit of soul & a sprinkling of some early funky stuff goin on in the other room, that would make my ideal club night

Cat, that sounds like the sort of thing we are looking to do. R&B was what I thought might be best. Try to keep it fairly specialist and complement what is in the main room. Might be good on a Saturday. We're going to get Eddie on again as he loves it and always puts a lot into it ... he doesn't really play much if any R&B. We could go for the soul, funk, pop and beaty stuff in the main room with the r&b in the other. What we wouldn't want to do though is to lure people like your self out of the main room all night.
Could even work on a Sunday as that tends to be quite northern orientated.
We're looking at the possibilities though.
Blocky .... unfortunately we would not go for the revival stuff. Its not really what we're about as a 60s club. Eddie playing Town Called Malice was a one off bit of inspiration that worked well on Saturday (I thought). He nicked one of my records off the deck to put it on too the cheeky sod. By that time on Sat night all 5 of us DJ-ing were playing a track each as quick as we could find one and get it on the deck. It was a good laugh. Also, I think I'm right in saying that Three Button Heroes play revival stuff .... as do people like Emma Cox. Not that I'm trying to be snobby about it ... I grew up on the Chords, Secret Affair, Jam etc
--- SAY NO ......... TO GIFFER SOUL!

Re: HIPSHAKER @ IOW 2004
Trust me all, I was kind of expecting that answer. There's no way I'm swapping a hipshaker night to listen to wolfie swearing across the mike. Emma and Kev are great people, but I'm still a soulman at heart. you just do whatever you want in the same place and me and the crew are coming back.
Hopefully after we've played a gig on the Friday night, and definitely all night on Saturday.
