I've only gone and done it!

Some of you may know that I have been umming and ahhing for quite a few years now about buying my first ever Scooter...well at last I've actually done it! Vespa PX 125 1986. Collect it on Friday and start getting to know it and make it mine. A mere 48 but I feel like a 10 year old again! emoticon

that result last Saturday sent you a bit loopy mate??

Seriously you'll have fun, a PX is always a safe bet for a first bike. I had my T5 for years before I bought my Lammy. Problem is now I can't get my scoot out of the garage, bloody things wedged in with kids toys.

Re: I've only gone and done it!

Just thought I'd share my thoughts and feedback so far...

Good stuff:

I've loved it, just owning her and cleaning her up and just seeing what the subtle changes look like (new seat, new mudflap, few tiny bits and pieces here and there and best of all whitewall tyres which made her look so much better.

Best of all though is I can't believe how many people have been so friendly and talked, offering me out to events or a beer etc. I stopped for petrol yesterday and two blokes in diffrent cars just came over and chatted for ages...offered me out to see a local mod gig at a pub and talked about their own Scoots etc. Never had so many 'mates' in my life!

Not so good:

I just don't get as much time as I'd hoped as there's always so much other stuff to do as well.

Also...please don't take offence but I've been out on a few scooter runs now and having owned a few sports bike in the past I can't believe how many Scooter riders are just not that confident with their riding. Quite a few seem to wobble all over the place and just look not very good riders.

Most of all though I'm enjoying it and she looks lovely but when I pull up next to some of the classic Lambretttas out there, she doesn't look quite so good...but I'm still very happy.

Cheers Alex...yes it's like the old saying...everything is relative.
I get on my scoot here and she looks brilliant all nicely polished etc, but then you see some of these classic scooters at events and they look absolutely stunning.

Their owners must spend evry spare minute on them mind but I must admit it's great to see just how good they can look.

Re: I've only gone and done it!

Latest update...couldn't help myself with adding a few things here and there but just taking it all a bit at a time. Not likely to get out much over the winter but will be ready for the spring and enjoy hopefully a much better summer in 2013. Anyone wandering whether to go for it...my advice is don't wait as long as I did ...go for it and enjoy.
