Britpop / Mod Revival 92 - 98

The few posts between myself & mods4life has given me an interest in setting up a website regarding all things Mod in the 90's.

If anyone has any photographs / Flyers / Gig Posters / Press Cutting from this period I would be very interested in seeing them and possibly including them on the new site.

Sounds like a good idea Jay, plenty of class amongst the dross.

There were a number of mod bands I liked playing in the early 90s
The Direction,The Numbers, The Persuaders,
to name but a [sign in to see URL] the credit of these bands they were playing to a scene very short in numbers before britpop kick started things again.

Three great bands you've mentioned here Mac.
I had an equal love of all three of these bands.
The Persuaders single is a real rarity now days. I think it was Dizzy's first release.

The Numbers (Liverpool) were the best live act I'd seen for years and I was so gutted when George told me they were splitting.
I recall a double bill at the Powerhouse (when situated at Angel) when Mr Kotz. joined The Direction for 'My Side of Heaven'. I was totally blown away!

Dave E's amazing memory will no doubt kick in here. He's the only person I can remember being there constantly over the years.

Completely agree, the Numbers were amazing and it was a great couple of years here locally for gigs with the Numbers, Stairs, La's and a couple more.

There was a good few out and out mod bands at the time playing to the mod scene (during what was definitely a bit of a lull). But what I was trying to show was bands that weren't mod, never really thought of a mod audience, but would appeal to mods and ex-mods alike and spark that interest in finding bands that we all know as 'mod'. Whilst the massive majority of Britpop bands might not be considered mod, they were reminiscent enough to fuel another rise in interest.

If I may weigh in with a few personal faves;

- Taxloss

- Marblehead Johnson

- Lovebirds
