Invidia Scooters was set up by myself and a colleague. I told him to start this business moving slow to start with and only take a few orders so that we could see how good the product was and how long the lead times would be. He didn't listen and took countless orders. It took an eternity for the scooters to arrive and many customers demanded refunds. However my 'colleague' had paid himself substantial wages etc using customers deposits. Tens of thousands of pounds were creamed off the company balance sheet. The first i heard of this was when the cops called me!! I have a great career and any involvement in fraud would have led to me losing my job. So i put over £25,000 of my own money into the company to either refund people or get their scooters built and delivered. I have recently put a further £30,000 into the company to refund other creditors and to purchase a large shipment of scooters. The original business model was simple: Pay us a deposit, we ordered your bike, which also involved me personally overseeing the construction in India, as i regularly fly there, and then getting the scooter delivered to the Uk, uncrated, small amount of workshop work done to them, put through MOT and then delivered to the customer. Simple!!! However invariably, due to delays in getting perf pipes, disc brakes, 200cc engines etc, the delivery time from order to arriving in the UK could take months. I ordered 14 scooters in Sep 2011. They have only just arrived!!! SO. The business model has changed. Invidia Scooters is back in business, the website will be up and running in a matter of days and ONLY scooters that are actually in the UK ready for sale will be advertised. I have invested a small fortune and absolutely sodding hours of my time to get Invidia Scooters back on its feet and try to re-establish its reputation. I have posted on this forum, not to drum up business, but to try and set the record straight and give any of you guys a point of contact in addition to the website. please give Invidia Scooters a second chance, i certainly deserve it. It wasn't me that destroyed the business or some of the customer's dreams. Thanks for reading and feel free to comment. Happy scootering. regards Shane Potter (the other Shane in this company)nondisclosed_email@example.com (Invidia)Tue, 22 Jan 2013 14:33:37 +0000 Re: Invidia Scootershttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p225284,from=rss#post225284https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p225284,from=rss#post225284keith mate, did you forget youre medication?lammy`s can now be just as reliable if not more so than any vespa, you just need to invest in the right machine and spend a few quid upgrading, new electronics, carb etc etc,if the right vespa comes along i dont have any preference, you wont get me slagging off any scoot as long as the owner uses it good luck to them, theres too much snobbery in the scooter world, ride safe,be happy and dont let the bollix grind you down thats what i say. nondisclosed_email@example.com (p lax)Mon, 18 May 2009 12:51:04 +0000 Re: Invidia Scootershttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p225237,from=rss#post225237https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p225237,from=rss#post225237  hi bill and pete! bill i wouldnt ever buy another lambretta again,i prefer the look, but their far more expensive and far less reliable!. if can afford another scooter at some point buy the newer vespas,ie the pxs or the t5,which ive owned, their reliable and far better all round! they say when you get older, you get wiser,so invest in a vespa,im no longer a lambretta snob!,cheers all!  nondisclosed_email@example.com (wembley79mod)Sun, 17 May 2009 02:11:36 +0000 Re: Invidia Scootershttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p225026,from=rss#post225026https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p225026,from=rss#post225026Cheers Pete, have had a brief look at their site/forum,but the high cost of Lambrettas here probably mean i will look at a Vespa, just dont want to get stung with some crappy import that will fall apart after a few weeks.Been out the scooter game for a long time now,and was never the best mechanically,so just gotta be a bit careful over here.Plus need to win lottery first to afford one !! Brand new Indian Lambretta engines are rubbish as well. I really appreciate advice and I will listen to it. I guess its frustrating when, as i said before, people making sweeping statements about something. I have spoken to a number of people (including scooter specialists)and they all pretty much say the same thing about vietmanease Vespas. You wouldnt fork out that sort of money for anything without having a damned good look. At the same time theres a few good scooter shops selling imported Indian GP200 or 150 lambrettas either restored or waiting to be restored, mostly with new engines etc and a warenty. Has anyone ever bought one of these? nondisclosed_email@example.com (mikethemod)Sun, 01 Feb 2009 10:43:45 +0000 Re: Invidia Scootershttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p219166,from=rss#post219166https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p219166,from=rss#post219166It's like buying anything, you get the know what you're buying, and who locally is a retutable dealer. Now if a bloke was living in Vietnam, India etc. He could suss out who the retutable dealers are locally, and know he'd get a good scooter. Chances are that dealer charges far more than these internet people, due to offering a superior product, and doesn't sell to the UK over the net because he's got more than enough work on his plate to bother. nondisclosed_email@example.com (outrigger)Sun, 01 Feb 2009 10:20:35 +0000 Re: Invidia Scootershttps://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p219131,from=rss#post219131https://bmodrevivalforums.runboard.com/p219131,from=rss#post219131Phew! I know if you go on ebay and look at Vespas and Lamrettas theres a lot of nice shiney looking scoots with claims of full restorations etc. You hand over your money to some guy in Bangok and hope that a/ the scooter turns up b/ Its in one piece c/ its the colour you ordered d/ its not made up of coke cans etc etc. Thats got to be well risky. On the other hand there are a number of dealers/ specialists in this country who you could deal with direct. I may be wrong here but i think with Invidia scooters you order your scoot and wait 6 weeks (I did speak to some one who had dealings with them and said he'd waited 3 months!)for it to turn up. So you've got the same problem as above, except that when it does turn up youd like to think you would have some back up if all was not right I went to see a top guy the other day who has a company he set up with his daughter near Cambridge dealing in Indian Lambrettas and parts. The difference to Invidia was that his scoots are there in his shop to see. Im not pretending to be a expert on scooters, but i have restored a number of other vehicles, and for the money id say they were spot on. All body panels, electrics, engine etc were new and he also had 2 containers full of parts. Many of your "local" dealers are only doing the same thing, even if its importing scooters fron Italy or Spain. You certainly couldnt say that all scooters restored in this country are spot on anymore than any restored in the far east are rubbish (lets be honest the Italians have never been renowned for there build quality in the first place). Dont get me wrong I would love an origanal 1960,s Italian scooter but the prices are just through the roof. Im also not defending every company selling scoots from the far East.
