posticon Rinaldi Sings! Remember The Moment? (Of course you do!)

RINALDI SINGS is the new group fronted by singer/songwriter STEVE RINALDI. A big band with a big sound, they play sharp-suited mod pop-soul!

For five years STEVE RINALDI was a key member of THE MOMENT. He went on eight European tours with the band and featured on all of their recordings from ‘Poor Mr Diamond’ onwards, penning the driving brass riff that powers ‘Ready To Fall’, the band’s final single.

After The Moment split up, STEVE RINALDI continued to work with Moment guitarist Adrian Holder in a succession of bands, eventually writing 50 per cent of the material and taking over as the band’s vocalist. RINALDI SINGS is his first solo project.

RINALDI SINGS have just completed their debut album, ‘What’s It All About?’, due for release in 2004. The album was co-produced by Ian Shaw and Paul Bevoir, whose credits include many of the classic recordings by The Times, Mood Six and The Moment. The album features ten songs written by STEVE RINALDI and two suitably mod cover versions! The band are also currently in the process of producing a promotional video directed by Edward Ball.

In the past STEVE RINALDI has often helped out other leading acts. He played on The Jetset’s ‘Five’ album, appeared with Squire at Mods Mayday in 1999, and he currently makes occasional guest appearances with Ian Page’s band, The Affair.

RINALDI SINGS are a six piece band featuring guitar, bass, drums, trumpet, trombone and saxophone. For bigger gigs they will be augmented by a female backing vocalist and a keyboard player. In anticipation of a single release, they will begin to play live in November and December 2003.

Hello pop pickers,
Doesn't really do anything for me Lee,Though if you hadn't written that it was produced by Bevoir I think I would have guessed that.Very reminicent of The Jetset with a wee bit of The Co Stars thrown in.All in all very 80's Mod Pop sounding. If it was still 1985 and I was 14 years old I would probably like it,But now I'm afraid it's just too twee for my liking.

Perfectly put. My sentiments exactly, I'm afraid.

No probs. I actually quite like it - it grows on me the more I hear it...

But yeah, it is very mid 80's mod poppy.

Re: Rinaldi Sings! Remember The Moment? (Of course you do!)

Just received the cd demo today.
First of all, I have to say that the 'Happy' track that's on the website is FAR better on cd.

Quick review on all four tracks:

1)Happy - really good, feel good, mod/soul/pop
2)On A Magic Carpet Ride - another great, feel good, mod/pop tune
3)Rollercoaster Ride - My favourite track, which has a good Northern Soul feel to it
4)A Matter Of Life And Death - Starts off slow, but really gets going and really sounds great with the change of keys throughout and tremendous use of what sounds like a full brass section!

All the tunes use lots of brass, especially trumpets and they seem to mix perfectly with the guitars and other instruments used, including organs.

All in all, all tracks have a great 'feel good' factor about them, which will get your feet tapping and cheer you up on the worst of days - mod pop at it's best?

While I've been typing this I've been listening to the cd again, and, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's my favourite new stuff that I've heard this year!!!

This stuff is simply brilliant and could be the only thing I've heard for a long time that's poppy enough to actually get in the charts!

I agree with Lee, I have heard the full CD and the more you listen to it the more it grows on you. Out of the 12 tracks on my CD I have to say that 10 are brilliant, two are so so!!
It's probably the best thing I've heard for a while and should appeal to quite a lot of the mod scene and a whole spectrum of people outside the scene as well.....anyone beg to differ....... emoticon
