posticon The Reaction

Hi everyone,
This is my frst post on this forum and I wonder if anyone can help me with any information about The Reaction a mod band from Bristol. Prior to signing to Waterloo sunset records around '86 they released a four track demo tape which they sold at gigs and I am trying with no luck at all to track down a copy of this tape. Can anyone help?

Try Mac Jnr on here or Scooter Stu - avid collectors/magpies/mod nutters emoticon

Maybe even Wellsus.

They'll turn up in due course mate.

Tell us some more about yaself over in the introduction thread in the Waffle section. emoticon emoticon

I saw The Reaction play live around the time they released their excellant single Make Up Your Mind (1987)
I know one of the members went into garage band The [sign in to see URL] for the tape I havent seen it [sign in to see URL] best thing i can advise is keeping your eye on Detour Records [sign in to see URL] gets new stuff in all the time including live/demo tapes emoticon

Sorry I only have the single too.

You might want to search out the MM touched by the hand of Mod article that features Sean Thomas as well.

Re: The Reaction

arent there more than one band called the Reaction?, like half a dozen?

I think I have that bristol bands single as well, never seen a tape doing the rounds though.
All the west country lads seemed to have moved straight from Mod bands to pysch/garage/folk type bands - there was quite a good little scene going in the south + west at one time with bands like the Nuthins (mojo mills), Electric Tea Company (Lee Hoodwinks etc),Unchayned, Mystread etc etc.

In fact the Unchayned still play gigs, search them out on Myspaz, I think they are excellent myself.

Yes there was!
My old band Reation were around 79-82. We we from the Midlands and we're the one's that supported The Jam.
We took our name from the All Around The World single, as I was a massive Jam fan.
I think I've said it before, but one clever promoter got The Reaction to suppot us at the Railway (I think that was what is was called) at West Hampstead. "Reaction + The Reaction"!
He thought he was being funny, we just thought he was a complete Tw*t!

I think I have about 6 or 7 Reaction bands from all over, on my site on myspace!

Cheers
Bruno

Unfortunately The Unchayned are no more. They split up before the summer. I was talking to Graham (drummer/singer) at Primitive in June, apparently they recorded an album and are trying to get it posthumosly released. Their promo cd [sign in to see URL] should still be available though.

Graham is deejaying at the fratcave monthly garage club in Bristol at the moment, I'm heading over next month for a look.

I was just about to mention that too! A little later, about 84/85, every other band in London seemed to be called Impact! Are you sure you lot weren't all soap powder salesmen emoticon
