Re: Advice to this 39 year old (mid-life crisis) virgin!

Riding an LX, GTS, etc is a different kettle of fish to a geared scooter as the ones you mention are twist and go so it wouldn't be helping you at all to do that.

Also the ones you mention are actually more powerful than the old geared ones so you would be downgrading rather than upgrading in terms of power.

As for folks taking the piss, whilst I personally don't care either way, I think they would yes.

Trust me a Vespa PX is what you are after. They were only discontinued last year so a nearly new one is still a possibility.

Great pictures! Hmmm, I thought I'd decided on a GTS but am now seeing the LML as the best way to go. Ta for the Eddy Bullet link...great site and looks like a great option. I assume members will vouch for EB as a trusted dealer? I'll call next week.
Cheers lads.

In your boat I agree that the LML Star or the PX 125 are for you mate.

Get in touch with the Welwyn Stags S.C.

'MASTEROFDISASTER79' is a member and also a user of this forum.

I hope this helps mate.

eddie bullet is as reliable as you are going to get,he`s the main importer for lml i balieve,if you do go for the lml you might want to think about having it deristricted as its a bit under powered, what you really need to do is have a browse through scootering magazine before you jump in and buy, contacting your local club is a good idea, most will give you sound advice about local dealers etc.the best advice i can offer is dont buy the first you see, unlees its an absolute peach, there are a lot of greedy b`stards out there selling crap for top doller, listen to advice and enjoy

Thanks for the advice lads. Popped into Del Basso scooters (Hitchin) at the weekend and he has an unused black PX125 along with lots of newer models. He also seemed to be open to doing a deal! How much do you think I should be offering for this new PX? I think they were selling it for around £2k.As previously mentioned, if anything goes wrong (mechanically) I haven't got a clue, so will a 'new' PX125 offer me good reliability and is it likely to come with a 2-year warrenty (like the GTS etc)? Sorry, I should have asked the guy in the shop, but I was too wide eye'd!!!

Don't listen to Reason to Believe, a Lambretta is for later I'd say when you know what your doing...

The Black PX seems like what you're after, only he will know if it has a warranty, but if it's new I can't see why not?

I'd say 1800-2k would be a good price for a new unused one, and a new PX is the most reliable Mod style scooter you're gonna get. Also a new one is a rarity, as they were discontinued in favour of the more ecological 4 stroke GTS etc November last year.

LML's didn't get discontinued as they don't come from Europe and they are slower because they have catalytic converters fitted. There's no point removing this IMO because in a year or two I expect a law will be made demanding all 2 stroke machines must have one fitted and you'd only have to put it back in again...

Listen to Jeff, you can't go wrong with a PX and they are reliable.
